FROM THE DEANS OF STUDENTS:

  • Students are reminded that they are to be in dress code at all times. Students should have on the proper shoes as neither athletic shoes nor boots are permitted.  Men, you are to have on a tie at all times throughout the day.  Ladies, you are not permitted to have the book bag style purses or any purse large enough to hold a book within it.  Lastly, hair colors must be natural hair colors found in nature and you may not have any exotic designs etched into your hair. Doo-rags and head scarves are not permitted at any point of the day.  If you are found in violation of the school dress code policy, you will be sent home immediately.  We will also conduct random sweeps throughout periods.  Thank you for complying with this policy.
  • Also from the Deans, students are not permitted to ride the elevator during the day or after school unless you have a pass from the nurse or the Deans.  There are numerous staff members and students that need to use the elevator for medical purposes. If you are found on the elevator by anyone without a pass, you will be sent home immediately.  Again, thank you for conforming to this policy.

FROM MS. SHELLEY: If you are in need of tuition hours, the Boys and Girls Club is looking for tutors at Mound School Elementary.  Also, Metro Health located across the street from our school is looking for students to read to children in the waiting room.  If you are interested in either of these programs, please see Ms. Shelley.  All hours are applied to your tuition.

STUDENT SENATE: Student Senate will have a BRIEF meeting tomorrow after school in the Fr. Fiala Room beginning at 2:50 PM.  If everyone is on time, we will conclude by 3:20 PM.  Remember, Spirit Week is right around the corner!

BIRTHDAYS:

  • We had one member of our Cleveland Central Catholic family celebrate a Birthday yesterday!  When you see sophomore, January Claytor, in the halls today, make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday!
  • We have four members of the Cleveland Central Catholic family celebrating their birthday today.   When you see junior, Valerie Allen,freshmen, Tyrone Ellis and Justyn Hall or Ms. Modic in the hallways today, make sure that you wish them a Happy Birthday!  

ATHLETICS:

Shout out and congratulations to Coach Duke and the Ironmen Basketball team on their thrilling 46-41 victory over the Irish of St. Vincent-St. Mary.  The Ironmen had quite the weekend as they defeated Warren JFK on Friday and St. Ignatius on Saturday.  The number three in the Plain Dealer Top 25 poll will next see action against St. Thomas Aquinas here on Friday.  Make sure that you see Mrs. Jarrett in the bookstore to purchase your advance sale tickets.

Well Cleveland Central Catholic the Track team did very well this weekend at Oberlin College.  We were the only school to have 3 runners make it to the finals in the 60 meter dash. David Lee placed 3rd and Quajuan (Kwa-John) Mcglothin and Kody Bell placed in the top 12 out 60+ runners. David Lee and Quajuan (Kwa-John) Mcglothin placed 2nd and 3rd in the 200 meter dash. Our team A 4 x 200 meter relay of Smith, Mcglothin, Bell and Lee placed 1st overall and our team B of Wheeler, Sanders, Binns and Scott placed first in their heat. Our 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sanders, Binns, Wheeler and Scott placed 2nd overall. And last but not least Olivia Cotton placed second in her 200 meter dash heat.

Anyone interested on playing softball this season there will be a meeting tomorrow after school at 2:50 in the cafeteria.

Shout out and congratulations to our music students who did well at the Ohio Music Educators Association solo/ensemble event this pastSaturday at Mayfield High School.  Sophomore Emanuel Griffin earned third highest rating for his instrumental solo.

The following students earned second highest ratings for their instrumental solos: Juan Hernandez, Amari Galloway, Deysha Tolliver, Sherelle Thomas, Austin Hall, Kaitlin Cooper, and Katie Caceres.  Marcus Rutledge earned highest rating for his vocal solo.  Congratulations again to these amazing students.  We are very proud of all the hard work you put in.
